Application for Election Inspector

Reimbursement:  $8 per hour.

Qualifications: To be an Election Inspector in Sussex, a person must be:

• A US Citizen;

• A resident of Waukesha County;

• At least 16 years of age;

• Not currently serving a sentence, including incarceration, parole, probation or extended supervision for a felony conviction, or not be otherwise disqualified from voting;

• Able to read and write fluently in the English language.

Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and all voting takes place at the Sussex Civic Center. Election Inspectors work either a morning shift, afternoon shift or all day. Those working a morning shift or all day typically start at 6:30 a.m. Those working an afternoon shift or all day, work until all reports are completed and voting numbers are reconciled–approximately 9:30 p.m. Elections with large voter turnout may require more time to sort ballots and process reports at end of day.

Every effort is made to assign Election Inspectors to their preferred shift; however, this is not guaranteed. We ask that you be willing to be flexible as assignments are subject to change on an as needed basis.
