Park Sign Announcement Form

The Village of Sussex has a highly visable, electronic sign located at the entrance of the Sussex Village Park on Main Street.

The sign is available for public announcements on a first come first serve basis based on the priority system and policy set forth by the Village of Sussex (see below).  Numerous announcements may be displayed at one time and there is no charge for the announcement(s).  Messages will only be allowed on the sign a maximum of four weeks prior to the event.  This is dependent on the number of requests and is at the discretion of the Village.

Please submit this form at least 72 hours prior to the requested announcement date.

Electronic Sign Policy

Permitted Users

  • Village of Sussex, its departments and affiliated Park & Recreation entities.
  • Non-profit organizations & athletic associations that are Sussex-based and who have entered into an agreement for use of Village facilities and who have a significant presence in the community as determined by the Village Administrator. 

Priority Usage

  • Village of Sussex sponsored events and information of concern to the community residents while giving priority to the Park and Recreation Department.
  • Events at Village facilities open to the public whether or not an admission fee is charged.
  • Community organizations which have entered into an agreement for use of the Village facilities.  Community Organizations are defined as civil society non-profits that operate within a single local community or region.   They are often run on a voluntary basis and are self funding.  Some are formally incorporated, with a written constitution and a board of directors, while others are much smaller and are more informal.
  • Non-Profit Organizations entering into agreement to use the Village facilities.  Non-profit organizations are defined as follows:  an organization that does not distribute its surplus funds to owners or shareholders, but instead uses them to help pursue its goals.

Number of Messages

  • No more than five messages will be allowed on the sign at any given time.  Messages placed on the sign are limited to a maximum of three lines in length and up to a maximum of 15 characters per line.

Message Duration

  • Messages will only be allowed on the sign a maximum of four weeks prior to the event.

Message Content

  • Content of the message should be limited to include the following information:  date, time, name of event, location, cost and/or reason.

Prohibited Usage

  • Advertise partisan events, political candidate or political philosophy.
  • Promotion of certain religion or religious belief.
  • Events not open to the general public.
  • Messages of a personal nature.
  • Individual game status.
